Donxa Rehabilitation Room Project-The new Donxa Rehabilitation Room is a dream come true for the Soc Son Nursing and Training School for Disabled Children.
Donxa is a Non-Governmental Organization who provides support for underprivileged disabled children in Vietnam.
Since it’s birth in 2001 the Belgian NGO has worked tirelessly on several projects, predominately focusing on education. Donxa believes that this is a major factor in ensuring children have a brighter future.
In 2002 Donxa built ‘Co Loa Relief House’, a school for disabled children in Co Loa, just north of Vietnam’s capital city, Hanoi. The school, along with other specialized schools in Hanoi, still receives support from Donxa.
The ‘Soc Son Training and Nursing School for Disabled Children’ is another example. There are on-going projects such as ‘Milk for Disabled Children’, and the ‘School Library Program’. The children receive a carton of milk twice-daily and pupils and teachers have a new library complete with new furniture, computers and books.

Another project Donxa organized helped children with various disabilities; including limb malformations, polydactylism and burns. Children in the Son La province received free health assessments, with some of them going on to have life-changing surgery at the Hanoi Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital.
As well as funding the operations, Donxa provided additional support for some of the impoverished families by covering travel expenses, rehabilitation tools, additional health checks and surgery costs. For many families these operations would simply be impossible to fund. The first round of operations took place in December 2010 and continued into 2011.
December proved to be a busy month for Donxa as it also saw the completion and opening of a new Rehabilitation Room in the Soc Son Training and Nursing School for Disabled Children. Work began on the new facilities at the beginning of the year and there was much to be done, including repairs to the roof and overall structure as well as damp treatment for the walls. The rooms were then freshly decorated and fitted with new furniture and equipment. The opening ceremony took place on 27th December 2010. What a fantastic Christmas present for the 78 pupils!
Donxa Rehabilitation Room Inauguration
“For ten years we have dreamt of having such facilities for our students. It is so important for disabled children to have a good rehabilitation room. This will help them a lot and we are grateful to Donxa. It will give pleasure and hope to not only our students, but to many disabled children in Soc Son District”

Such equipment is necessary for the mental and physical wellbeing of the children. It enables them to play like other children and to exercise their bodies and their minds.

This Donxa project was made possible through the kind hearted efforts of devoted Donxa volunteers and the generosity of sponsors Fifty One Club Geel and Fossambel BVBA, both located in Belgium. Their kind and much needed financial support meant that Donxa could buy the rehabilitation equipment and carry out the much-needed repairs. Donxa is also grateful to ICI Paint in Vietnam who provided paint which was used to repaint the whole outside of the school and the inside of two school-rooms, including the rehabilitation room.
Donxa is extremely appreciative of the numerous donations from sponsors in Europe, Vietnam and the rest of Asia. This kind generosity enables Donxa to help poor and disabled children in Vietnam have a happier childhood and a brighter future.
If you would like to assist Donxa in continuing its quest then please contact Donxa via their website- www.donxa.be. Thank you.
