Charitable/philanthropic music show “You and I” 09:25, March 27th, 2007
During Youth month, the charitable and philanthropic music show “You and I” was held by Donxa organization and Youth Unions from many universities in Hanoi. “You and I” is among those significant programs that help develop charitable activities, establish close relations with different unions and organizations in Vietnam, and promote public concern about unfortunate fates. All money collected from tickets sales and vehicles-keeping contributed to support the poor and disabled children in the DONXA program. Ten years ago the president of DONXA, Roby Bauweraerts, set foot in Vietnam. After experiencing many ups and downs in his life, he can now happily share about opportunities that bring him closer to people: “I am so pleased to welcome all of you to this kind of charity work. To my strong belief, these young talented and active people will set a bright future for Vietnam. Honestly speaking, coming to Vietnam and seeing all of you was beyond my expectations. I used to worry about things such as how to cross streets in Vietnam without having accidents, how to use chopsticks, and how to live with insects in bed. However gradually, I overcame these crazy phobias and I have been in love with Vietnam since then. I could feel the warm welcome of Vietnamese people to me and I decided to stay here. Later, I got married to a beautiful Vietnamese lady and we now have two lovely kids. For a long time, my friend and I kept wondering, “How can we do something for Vietnam?” We finally decided to join hands and with huge support from sponsors and volunteers, DONXA was founded. We have organized free medical checks and operations for disabled children in Hanoi, awarded scholarships to poor students, offered poor farmers Laisind- a breeding stock of cow to develop their farming, and create a purified water project at schools in Hatay.

With your great support, I believe that DONXA will be more successful. The music show tonight, “You and I,” was for you and me, for Belgium and Vietnam. Please vote for DONXA to help poor people in the rural areas. From bottom of their heart, Artist Ton That Triem and “Hi vọng”(Hope) national band were pleased to perform lots of cheerful music pieces. Our two special quests included talented blind artists, Khuc Hai Van and Tran Son Hai. Audiences were completely captivated by their excellent guitar-playing. Their song “Giấc mơ Chapi” (Chapi dream- composed by Nguyen Cuong) encouraged and excited the audience to stand up and sing along. Along with these performances were various student bands in rock, pop, hip-hop style: Ocean high way, Nimphetamin, Question, 5 beautiful girls X5 and a guitar club from the University of Architecture. All of them brought us the best show. Audiences also enjoyed self-composed songs“ Không thử không biết” and “Gửi làn gió” by Keota Xayaxin, a Laotian student from Marketing Faculty of University of National Economics. Her lovely songs were greatly received by the audience. Rock songs such as “Black winterday”, “Bài ca trên đồi”, and “Đi tìm bóng núi” ended the great show. The stage suddenly extended to the whole stadium and all students held hands singing and dancing together enthusiastically. This wonderful charitable show will be an unforgettable memory in everybody’s hearts. Effort for unlucky fates 2 months before Tet, as a volunteer of DONXA, Lê Thị Nhung, a third-year student of University of Social Science and Humanities, had designed and organized the charitable music show, “You and I”. Unable to find sponsors to support toe show, Youth Unions from 5 universities in Hanoi decided to do everything themselves. All the leaflets were made and distributed by members of the Unions. After Tet, tickets were printed and sent to different universities. Despite being busy with their final exams, the students tried their best to balance school as well as organizing the show. Le Lan Phuong, a rock band (9X Kids) leader, happily stated, “We are all students of Ngo Sy Lien and Lomonosov high school. As guests of the show, we were planned to perform at 9 P.M., but it turned out to be at 10 since there are many extra performances. Coming home late might make our parents worried, but we try to spend more time contributing to the show and poor children.” Another girl, Huyen Nhung, a second-year student of Foreign Trade University cheerfully said, “I was assigned with 500 tickets. It took me one week to design and distribute leaflets. All of the tickets are sold immediately. I am very happy as I can do something to contribute to the success of the charitable music show.” With their talents and kind hearts, together these students and DONXA’s volunteers have helped create a love bridge to reach out and help the poor children all over the country.
